Maria Zubkova
Chapter Lead
Maria has been a Board member of the SCGIS since 2023. Prior to joining DC Chapter leadership, she spent 3 years chairing the Conference Committee. At her day job, Maria utilizes satellite data to monitor environmental changes throughout the globe as an Associate Research Professor in the Department of Geographical Sciences at the University of Maryland, College Park. Her favorite animal is a bear, any bear, all of them.

Abigail Pendry
Chapter Lead
Abigail stumbled into a DC SCGIS Happy Hour a month after moving to the DC area in 2020 and has been an avid member and evangelist since. During the day, Abigail designs and automates spatial analyses for the National Audubon Society. Her favorite plant to stop and stare at (and touch) while on a hike is moss.

Vivian Griffey
Chapter Lead
Vivian is an applied scientist at Conservation International, using remote sensing and field data to answer the question “where should we work to have the largest climate impact?” She has been involved with SCGIS since moving to the DC area a few years ago and is excited to now be co-leading the DC chapter. She has an undying love for chickens and their strange gurgling noises.
